Revitalization of Bayfield’s Main Street delivers smoother roads and better pedestrian access

The Municipality of Bluewater has completed its revitalization of Bayfield’s Main Street, from Catherine Street to The Square, improving the heritage-designated area for tourists and locals.

Bluewater invested the Canada Community-Building Fund to refurbish and beautify the area, which is home to popular local businesses. Work included repaving the road, installing sidewalks, improving landscaping, and replacing light fixtures that were originally installed in the 1930s. To address rainwater pooling, the Municipality designed a system that sends stormwater runoff to rain gardens.

Improvements to Main Street help the Municipality promote the area as a year-round destination for tourists and locals, providing a better experience for pedestrians and drivers.
